Hoy, a 69-year-old retired CIA employee, had moved to Las Vegas to care for his daughter, who has autism. Hoy’s friend, Bruce Moore, shared that Hoy had stayed with him for a week after attending their high school reunion in September. According to Moore, Hoy and his wife moved to Las Vegas to provide better care for their daughter, who required special attention. Moore expressed his sadness over the tragic incident, stating that it was heartbreaking considering the sacrifices Hoy and his wife had made for their daughter.

The Clark County coroner’s office has confirmed Hoy’s identity but has not yet released the cause and manner of his death. The police have submitted documents to the district attorney’s office for possible prosecution, although specific details have not been disclosed.
