Retired teacher, Mrs Iyanuoluwa Adamolekun, allegedly killed in her sleep; three suspects arrested

The Ondo State Police Command has apprehended three individuals in connection with the tragic death of Mrs Iyanuoluwa Adamolekun, a retired teacher, in Arigidi Akoko. The suspects, identified as Oluwaseun Mobarak and Rilwan Oluwaseun, include the househelp and Mobarak’s mother.

According to reports, Adamolekun was found lifeless in her room by her grandchild, who made the discovery in the afternoon. It is alleged that the suspects not only killed her while she was sleeping but also stole her mobile phone.

The police were able to track the deceased’s phone, leading to the arrest of one suspect who later assisted in apprehending the others involved. The suspects confessed that they entered the house by scaling over the fence instead of using the main gate to avoid making noise.

Once inside, they went straight to Adamolekun’s room, where she was lying on her bed after taking a bath. The suspects admitted to using a wooden box to strike her head while she screamed, and the second suspect proceeded to strangle her.

Mrs Funmilayo Odunlami, the State Police Public Relations Officer, confirmed the arrest of the suspects and stated that they are currently in custody. She assured that further details would be provided later.

The incident has left the community in shock and mourning the loss of a beloved retired teacher. The police command is working diligently to ensure that justice is served and that the perpetrators face the full consequences of their actions.
