In a major success for security forces, one terrorist has been killed in an ongoing encounter in the Kalakote area of Rajouri district in the Jammu region. The Indian Army has identified the terrorist as Quari, a Pakistani national and a hardcore member of the Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorist group. According to the army, Quari was involved in numerous attacks in the area and was trained in both Pakistan and Afghanistan. He was considered a highly ranked terrorist leader and an expert in operating and hiding from caves, as well as being skilled in the use of improvised explosive devices (IEDs) and sniping.

The army has attributed Quari as the mastermind behind the Dangri and Kandi attacks and believes he was sent to revive terrorism in the region. This encounter marks a significant achievement for the security forces as they continue their efforts to combat terrorism in the area.

During the operation, fresh firing was reported between the terrorists and security forces. More troops were deployed to the encounter site, and drones and helicopters were utilized to maintain an aerial vigil. Tragically, the Indian army has lost four personnel, including two officers, in the encounter, while two others have been injured and are currently receiving treatment at the Udhampur Indian Army’s base hospital.

Although the official number of deaths in the operation is yet to be confirmed by the Indian army, sources within the security forces claim that two foreign terrorists are still holed up in the area. These terrorists are believed to have recently infiltrated from across the border.

The challenging terrain and limited road connectivity in the Reasi Poonch area have posed difficulties for the ongoing operation. The presence of isolated Dhoks (temporary shelters) in mountain villages makes the civilian population, particularly women and children, vulnerable to terrorist activities.

The Indian army has been cautious to ensure no collateral damage occurs to innocent civilians during the operation. They have emphasized their commitment to preventing harm to women and children and have lauded the acts of valor and sacrifice exhibited by their own brave soldiers in upholding the highest traditions of the Indian Army.

The operations in the Kalakote area and the recovery of arms and ammunition highlight the continued efforts of the security forces to maintain peace and security in the region and neutralize the threat posed by terrorists.
