Glendale Heights police sergeant, Michael Huff, and his wife, Jackie Huff, were found dead in their Homer Glen home in an apparent murder-suicide on Sunday evening. The tragic incident unfolded when Will County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a 911 call reporting shots fired at the residence.
Upon arrival, law enforcement discovered the lifeless bodies of Michael and Jackie on the kitchen floor. Autopsies later revealed that Michael died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head, while Jackie had been shot three times in the head by her husband. A small handgun was found near both individuals.

The couple’s two children, aged six and 18, were present in the home at the time of the incident but did not witness the tragic event. The 18-year-old made the distressing 911 call after hearing the gunshots.
Further investigation into the case revealed that this was not the first time the Will County Sheriff’s Office had responded to incidents at the Huff residence. In 2020, deputies conducted a welfare check after the couple heard a motion alarm while they were out of town. Another call was made in October of this year when Michael reported being a victim of battery during a fight with a family member who did not live at the residence.
The Will County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the murder-suicide. Meanwhile, authorities are urging anyone facing domestic violence situations to seek help from organizations such as the Groundworks Domestic Violence Hotline or the Illinois Domestic Violence Helpline.
