Florida Mother-of-Three Stabbed to Death in Apartment Fire, 10-Month-Old Baby Dies in Hospital

A mother-of-three from Florida was tragically found stabbed to death inside her apartment, which had been set ablaze. The incident occurred in Daytona Beach, and her three young children were still inside the apartment when the crime took place. The 10-month-old baby died hours later in the hospital, while the two other children, aged four and five, were in critical condition as of Wednesday.

The victim, identified as Den’Jah Moore, was covered in stab wounds when firefighters arrived at the scene. The baby boy was found in his crib, while the other two children were inside the burning structure. The three children were rushed to the hospital, but sadly, the 10-month-old boy later died from cardiac arrest. The two other children remain in critical condition.

Police Chief Jakari Young described the crime as “the most horrendous and horrific crime” he has ever seen. Charles Ivy, a 34-year-old man who is reportedly the father of the two older children, was arrested on Wednesday near his home in Ormond Beach. He was charged with two counts of first-degree murder, two counts of attempted felony murder, and arson.

During a press conference, Chief Young stated that the motive is still unknown, but the crime was “definitely domestic in nature.” He mentioned that none of the children had been physically harmed or stabbed before the fire. Fire officials reported that there were at least two fires happening simultaneously inside the apartment, with one starting in the bedroom and the other in the kitchen. All four burners on the stove were turned on, and debris was found at the scene.

Chief Young expressed his gratitude to the firefighters for their swift actions in rescuing the children and thanked the investigators for their dedication in finding leads and making an arrest. He described the crime as horrific and stated that the evidence speaks for itself.
