Family of Three Killed in Bus Accident near Kolhapur

Three members of a family tragically lost their lives in a bus accident near Kolhapur city on Thursday morning. The private bus, carrying 22 passengers including the family, overturned at Puikhadi along Radhanagari road. The bus was en route from Panaji in Goa to Mumbai.

The victims were identified as Nilu Gautam, 43, Riddhima Gautam, 17, and Sarthak Gautam, 13. They were residents of Rajasa Enclave Building near Wonder City in Katraj. The accident occurred at a small ghat at Puikhadi, causing the bus to overturn and crush the sleeping passengers.

The Kolhapur Municipal Corporation’s firemen were quick to respond to the scene and rescue the injured. The bus driver has been detained and claimed that his vision was obstructed by a vehicle with bright lights, causing him to lose control.

Chief Fire Officer Manish Ranbhise stated, “The three deceased were sleeping on their berth when they were pushed out of the bus and subsequently crushed by the overturning vehicle. The rest of the passengers sustained minor injuries and have been admitted to a private hospital.”
