87-Year-Old Elzie Monroe McDonald Dies in Texas Plane Crash

PLANO, Texas — The pilot of a small plane that crashed and burned on the doorstep of a strip mall in Texas was attempting to abort a landing, according to an incident report released on Wednesday.

The pilot has been identified as 87-year-old Elzie Monroe McDonald from Arizona. He was the only person on board the single-engine Mooney M20 aircraft when it crashed in Plano, a Dallas suburb.
