36-Year-Old Marathon Man, Lee Charles Quinn, Arrested for Threatening to Kill Deputies and Attempting to Disarm Officer

A man from Marathon, Florida, aged 36, was arrested on Wednesday after he allegedly threatened to kill members of the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office and tried to grab a deputy’s firearm during his arrest. Lee Charles Quinn is now facing charges of battery, threatening a law enforcement officer, attempting to disarm a law enforcement officer, and resisting arrest.

The incident occurred in the 3800 block of the Overseas Highway in Marathon at approximately 7:50 p.m. The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call about an assault and identified Quinn as the suspect. Deputies located him on 36th Street.

During the arrest, Quinn reportedly made death threats towards multiple deputies and attempted to grab the holstered service firearm of one deputy. However, he was unsuccessful in his attempt to obtain the weapon.

While being taken into custody, Quinn resisted arrest by stiffening his body, pulling away from the deputies, and kicking the doors of a patrol vehicle on the way to the jail. Fortunately, no significant injuries were reported in connection with the incident.

The authorities have not provided further details about the motive behind Quinn’s actions or the circumstances surrounding the assault that prompted the initial call to the Sheriff’s Office.

This incident serves as a reminder of the risks faced by law enforcement officers in the line of duty. The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office is commended for their swift response and apprehension of the suspect.
