26-year-old Indian Doctoral Student Aaditya Adlakha Shot Dead in Ohio

A 26-year-old Indian doctoral student was tragically killed in the US state of Ohio. Aaditya Adlakha, who was studying molecular and developmental biology at the University of Cincinnati Medical School, was shot dead. The medical university has described the incident as sudden, tragic, and senseless.

Adlakha passed away earlier this month at the UC Medical Center, according to the Hamilton County Coroner’s Office. On November 9, Cincinnati Police found a man shot inside a vehicle that had crashed into a wall on the upper deck of the Western Hills Viaduct. Gunfire had been reported in the area around 6:20 am, and a 911 call alerted the police to a car with multiple bullet holes and a person inside.

Despite being rushed to the hospital, Adlakha succumbed to his injuries two days later. So far, no arrests have been made in connection with the shooting.

Adlakha was highly respected and well-liked by his peers. Andrew Filak, the Senior Vice President of Health Affairs and Dean at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine, described him as intelligent, kind, and humorous. Adlakha’s research focused on understanding neuroimmune communication and its relation to pain and inflammation in ulcerative colitis.

Before coming to Cincinnati, Adlakha earned a bachelor’s degree in Zoology from the University of Delhi’s Ramjas College and completed a master’s degree in Physiology at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences in New Delhi.

The news of Adlakha’s death has deeply affected those who knew him and his academic community. The University of Cincinnati College of Medicine expressed their condolences to his family and friends.
