The FBI has released initial findings on the gunman who police say opened fire at a Walmart in Beavercreek, injuring four people before turning the gun on himself. The shooting occurred on Monday evening at the Walmart on Pentagon Boulevard. A man entered the store with a rifle and began shooting, according to a 911 caller. The victims, three females and one male, were found shot throughout the store. All four victims were shoppers. The suspect, identified as 20-year-old Benjamin Charlie Jones, died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The FBI and police have determined that the attack may have been motivated by Racially Motivated Violent Extremist ideology, based on evidence collected, including journal writings from Jones. The FBI will continue to investigate the incident to determine the exact motives. Jones purchased the weapon, a Hi-Point .45 caliber carbine, just days before the shooting. Investigators are examining Jones’ history and the accuracy of his answers on the ATF Form 4473. The FBI has urged anyone with information to come forward. Three of the victims are in stable condition, while one remains in critical but stable condition. Body camera footage shows an officer entering the store and locating the suspect’s body. Walmart has announced that the Beavercreek store will reopen on Friday at 6 a.m. The company has focused on supporting the well-being of their employees and received overwhelming feedback from them to resume operations as soon as possible. The investigation into the shooting remains active as the FBI delves into the attacker’s background, connections, and online activity.
