Two Men Dead and One Hospitalized in Cave Junction Shooting: 15-year-old Boy Among Victims

UPDATE, Tuesday at 3:50 p.m.: A suspect has been arrested in connection with the second shooting incident in Cave Junction over the weekend. The Josephine County Sheriff’s Office announced that a “vehicle of interest” linked to the Sunday shooting on S Kerby Road was located by the police. The driver of the vehicle, identified as Jessy J Forrest, a 21-year-old Cave Junction resident, was subsequently arrested and taken into custody at the Josephine County Jail. Forrest is now facing charges of attempted murder, first-degree assault, and unlawful use of a weapon.

CAVE JUNCTION, Ore. — Two men have been killed in a shooting incident in Cave Junction on Saturday, according to a news release from the Josephine County Sheriff’s Office. The release also mentioned an unrelated shooting incident on Sunday that left another man hospitalized.

Police responded to calls about a “shooting incident” on Saturday in the 1700 block of White Schoolhouse Road. Upon arriving at the scene, officers discovered two deceased men with gunshot wounds. Due to the nature of the incident and limited investigative resources, the Sheriff’s Office requested assistance from the Oregon State Police to handle the investigation.

Sheriff Dave Daniel revealed that one of the victims was a 15-year-old boy, while the other was a relative, although not a father or brother. As the Oregon State Police are now leading the investigation, no further details were disclosed.

The following day, authorities received reports of shots fired in the 100 block of S Kerby Road in Cave Junction. Deputies found a male individual with gunshot wounds to the upper body upon arrival. The victim was promptly transported to a nearby hospital and is currently in stable condition. The suspect remains at large. The victim, a man in his 20s from Cave Junction, underwent surgery and is expected to survive. Although robbery and domestic conflict are not suspected, investigators are still working to determine the motive behind the shooting.
