Two Army personnel were killed in a gunbattle between security forces and terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri district on Wednesday, according to officials cited by PTI. The encounter took place in the Bajimaal area of Dharmsal during a cordon-and-search operation conducted by the Army and the Jammu and Kashmir Police. One officer was injured in the exchange of fire and has been shifted to a hospital.
This incident comes just days after security forces eliminated five Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorists in Kulgam district. The terrorists killed in Kulgam were reportedly involved in attacks on Pandits and migrant laborers earlier this year. The slain terrorists were identified as Sameer Ahmad Sheikh, Danish Hameed Thokar, Ubaid Padder, Hanzla Shah, and Yasir Bhat, all of whom were local residents.

In recent months, there have been several encounters between security forces and terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir. In October, five LeT militants were killed along the Line of Control (LoC) in Kupwara. In September, security forces engaged in a week-long battle with terrorists in the forests of Garol in Anantnag, resulting in the death of two officers, a soldier, and a deputy superintendent of police.
According to the police, more than 40 terrorists have been killed in the Valley this year. The authorities remain committed to maintaining peace and security in the region, and operations against terrorists will continue.
