Tragic House Fire in Lafayette, Louisiana Claims Life of Unidentified Man

A man lost his life in a devastating 2-story house fire in Lafayette, Louisiana. The fire occurred on Tuesday afternoon in the 800 block of NW Evangeline Thruway. According to witnesses, the house was vacant at the time of the incident and the fire was reported by drivers passing by.

Lafayette firefighters quickly responded to the scene at around 4:10 pm on November 21. Upon arrival, they were faced with a fully engulfed structure. Although the fire caused damage to the exterior of a neighboring home, firefighters managed to prevent it from catching fire.

Emergency crews worked diligently and were able to bring the fire under control within 20 minutes. However, the intensity of the blaze caused the structure to collapse, resulting in heavy fire damage.

During the examination of the collapsed structure, firefighters made a tragic discovery. They found the body of a man in the burnt rubble. As of now, the victim has not been identified.

The investigation into the cause of the fire is still ongoing. Various agencies, including the Louisiana State Fire Marshal, Lafayette Police Department, and Lafayette Parish Coroner’s Office, are assisting in the investigation.

Unfortunately, two firefighters sustained minor injuries while battling the blaze. Thankfully, their injuries are not expected to result in any loss of work.
