Pike County, Ohio — A new documentary by Oxygen will shed light on the tragic events of the Rhoden massacre in Pike County. The horrifying incident took place on April 21 and 22, 2016, resulting in the deaths of eight members of the Rhoden family. The massacre occurred in four houses and a camper, claiming the lives of seven adults and one teenager.
The perpetrators of this gruesome act were members of the Wagner family, with Jake Wagner identified as the shooter in the execution-style murders of five Rhoden family members. Among his victims were Dana Rhoden (37), Hanna May Rhoden (19), Chris Rhoden Jr. (16), Frankie Rhoden (20), and Hanna “Hazel” Gilley (20). Christopher Rhoden Sr. (40) was also injured. The Oxygen docuseries, titled “The Pike County Murders: A Family Massacre,” will premiere on Friday, November 24, 2023, providing a detailed account of this tragic event.

In Jake Wagner’s chilling testimony in October 2022, he described the killings in detail, stating that Dana Rhoden made a gasping noise before he shot her. He also justified his decision to kill Hanna Rhoden by expressing concern for their 3-year-old daughter, Sophie, stating, “I had no choice. I decided to kill Hanna. If I didn’t do something, Sophie would be harmed.”
