Armed with a search warrant, police raided a house in Nonthaburi’s Sai Noi district on Wednesday and arrested a suspect named Warongchai Kansri. The suspect provided information that led police to five more locations in Bangkok and Nonthaburi, where seven additional suspects were apprehended. All eight suspects were taken to the Metropolitan Police Bureau for questioning.

According to a police source, investigators are still unsure if Warongchai was the shooter. They are interrogating the suspects to gather more information and identify the gunmen. Metropolitan Police chief Pol Lt-General Thiti Saengsawang will be present during the interrogations.

The eight suspects are accused of involvement in a shooting on November 11 that left Thanasorn Hongsawat, a 19-year-old student at Rajamangala University of Technology Tawan-ok Uthenthawai, fatally injured. A stray bullet from that incident also killed Sirada “Khru Jiab” Sinprasert, a 45-year-old teacher at Sacred Heart Convent School.

The arrest of these eight suspects followed the apprehension of another suspect in Bangkok Yai district. The suspect, Akkarapol Sirimekhanon, was accused of shooting and killing a 16-year-old student from a technical college in the Dusit district. The weapon used in this killing was a pen gun. Akkarapol claimed the shooting was an act of self-defense.

Thanakorn allegedly rode pillion with Akkarapol during the shooting of the victim, Pongpeera, a second-year technology university student. Thanakorn, 18, claimed to have been injured in a knife attack by friends of the victim before seeking revenge with Akkarapol.

Police are continuing their investigation into both shooting incidents and are determined to bring the perpetrators to justice.
