Swechchhasebak League Leader Shahadat Hossain Killed in Alleged Rival Attack over Enmity

A leader of the Swechchhasebak League was allegedly killed by his rivals in Mithadighi, Satkania upazila of Chattogram district on Tuesday night. The victim, Shahadat Hossain, 34, served as the general secretary of the Sadaha union unit of Swechchhasebak League and was the son of Yunus from the same area.

Shahadat’s elder brother, Anwar Hossain, was also injured in the attack. According to local sources, Shahadat had an ongoing feud with his neighbors, Tarek and Elahi, due to their opposition to drug abuse in the community.

An altercation broke out between the parties at around 10:30 pm on Tuesday. During the heated exchange, Tarek and Elahi indiscriminately stabbed Shahadat and Anwar, leaving both of them injured.

Authorities swiftly transferred the victims to the Chattogram Medical College and Hospital, where Shahadat, tragically, succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead by the doctors.

The incident has raised concerns regarding the escalating tensions between rival factions within the area. The police have initiated an investigation into the matter and are working to apprehend the culprits responsible for Shahadat’s murder.

The Swechchhasebak League is a political organization affiliated with the ruling party in Bangladesh, the Awami League. The league’s primary objective is to promote the ideology and policies of the Awami League among the general populace.
