Shaun Luzama: Suspect in Murder Case Fatally Shot in Standoff with Law Enforcement

A man was shot and killed by law enforcement officials during a standoff at a home in East Bremerton on Friday. The man, identified as 49-year-old Shaun Luzama, was a suspect in a murder case that occurred in Pierce County back in August. The News Tribune in Tacoma reported on the connection between the two incidents.

The Kitsap County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed that Luzama died from multiple gunshot wounds, while a woman named Denise Pangelinan, who was also shot at the scene, later succumbed to her injuries. Both victims had Bremerton addresses, according to the Medical Examiner’s Office. However, the exact relationship between Luzama and Pangelinan remains unclear.

Law enforcement officers had arrived at the residence early Friday morning to serve a search warrant, resulting in a large-scale operation involving multiple agencies. Shots were fired from the house, but the circumstances surrounding the shooting are still under investigation.

The Kitsap County Incident Response Team and the Pierce County Force Investigation Team are now conducting an investigation into the law enforcement shooting. Bremerton police Lieutenant Ryan Heffernan stated that more information would be released in the coming days.

Shaun Luzama had been charged with two counts of second-degree murder and first-degree unlawful possession of a firearm in relation to a shooting at an apartment complex in Parkland in August. The News Tribune reported that a warrant had been issued for his arrest, with the victim identified as Michael Lefeau.
