By | November 22, 2023

Fort Worth, Texas – The family of Gloria Choice, who was brutally murdered in 2005, is still seeking justice nearly 18 years later. Choice, a 47-year-old mother of four, was found dead in a vacant unit of the Willows of Woodhaven apartment complex in Fort Worth. Her body was discovered in a back bedroom with her pants pulled down and evidence of a sexual assault. Despite a thorough investigation, DNA testing was inconclusive, leaving the case unsolved.

Detective Thomas O’Brien, who is currently working on Choice’s case, believes that sexual assault was the probable motive for the crime. However, he acknowledges that other possibilities cannot be ruled out. Choice’s son, Scotti Choice, still vividly remembers the gruesome scene and continues to suffer from nightmares. He describes the condition in which his mother was found as inhumane and believes that no one should be treated that way.

Choice’s family has been relentless in their pursuit of justice. Her sister, Doris Valentine, remembers the impact her sister had on her life and how close they were. When Valentine received the news of Choice’s death, she was devastated and unable to cope with the loss. The family held onto hope for years until Michael Leon Davis was arrested for Choice’s murder in 2012. Davis had flagged down an officer shortly after the crime and claimed to have information about it. However, despite Davis’ arrest, the case lacked physical evidence, leading to his release.

The lack of closure has been difficult for Choice’s family. Tawnya Thomas, Choice’s youngest daughter, even taunted Davis on social media, expressing her frustration and anger at his release. Choice’s youngest son, Billy Thomas Jr., expressed his anger at not being able to hug his mother or celebrate special occasions with her. The family and the Fort Worth Police Department continue to search for justice, and while new genetic testing methods offer some hope, Detective O’Brien admits that the case remains challenging to solve without concrete evidence.

The Choice family’s fight for justice serves as a reminder that some wounds never truly heal. They refuse to give up hope and will continue to seek closure for Gloria Choice, who was taken from them far too soon.
