Missing Guatemalan Man Carlos DeLeon Found Dead, Suspect in Custody

Remains discovered in a North Hills home have been identified as those of a missing 35-year-old man from Guatemala, according to the Los Angeles Police Department. The suspect connected to the murder, Russell Robinson, aged 48, is currently in police custody. He has been charged with suspicion of murder in the death of Carlos DeLeon and is being held without bail.

The investigation into DeLeon’s disappearance began when family and friends reported not hearing from him since mid-June. Missing-persons detectives initially took up the case, but in November, LAPD homicide detectives became involved.

Police received information suggesting DeLeon’s death and burial in the rear yard of a North Hills residence on Community Court. A search warrant was obtained, and on Tuesday morning, a search and rescue team excavated a large hole in the backyard, where the remains were eventually found. The team removed a structure and the concrete foundation underneath before carefully unearthing the remains.

Authorities have not released further details regarding the cause of death. Detectives are appealing to the public for any additional information about the case.
