Middle School Administrators Reassigned After Allegedly Showing Up Drunk to Basketball Game

Middle school administrators in Nashville, Tennessee, have been reassigned following allegations that they attended a school basketball game while intoxicated. The principal and three assistant principals of New Providence Middle School were removed from their positions after an incident on November 9. Dr. Schanda Doughy, the chief academic officer for the Clarksville-Montgomery County School System, informed parents of the decision in a letter.

According to the letter, the administrators arrived at the game late and displayed behavior that indicated they had consumed alcohol or were under its influence. As a result of witness statements and evidence gathered during the investigation, the school system made the decision to remove them from their roles.

The administrators involved in the incident were identified as Principal Richard Frost, and assistant principals Megan Groene, Kelli Lorton, and Taylor Massie. Letters of reprimand were issued, recommending a one-day suspension for each person. They will also be reassigned to certified teaching positions for which they are qualified and licensed, effective from December 1.

The vacant principal and assistant principal positions will be advertised this week, as the school system looks to hire new leadership for New Providence Middle School. The decision to remove the administrators was made due to their conduct being deemed unsuitable for educators, including consuming alcohol prior to returning to school property and neglecting their duties.
