Man Identified as Marcos Escutia Found Shot in Sanger, California, Near Dumped SUV

SANGER, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – A man was discovered shot in the street just a short distance from where a grey SUV was found submerged in a nearby canal. The victim, Marcos Escutia, 43, was found on the sidewalk with gunshot wounds and was later transported to CRMC for treatment, but unfortunately succumbed to his injuries.

Sanger Police Chief, Greg Garner, revealed that the abandoned SUV was located on Rainbow Route, which is approximately two miles away from the neighborhood where Escutia was shot. Investigators are currently working to establish a connection between the two scenes and believe that the individuals responsible for shooting Escutia may have dumped the vehicle in the canal.

Garner stated, “We are aware that the victim was shot multiple times and sustained at least one gunshot wound. We are urging any potential witnesses to come forward to assist with our investigation.”

This incident marks the first homicide in Sanger in the past 21 months. Chief Garner expressed gratitude towards his officers and the community for their efforts in maintaining low crime rates.
