A woman has tragically died after being hit by a U.S. Postal Service vehicle while crossing the road in Port Arthur. The victim has been identified as Laura Vanessa Martinez-Segura, a 52-year-old resident of Port Arthur. An autopsy has been ordered by Jefferson County Justice of the Peace Brad Burnett.

The fatal incident occurred on Monday evening around 6 p.m. in the 4300 block of Procter Street. According to Police Chief Tim Duriso, the woman was immediately taken to the hospital, where she was sadly pronounced dead.

Duriso confirmed that the Postal Service worker involved in the collision stopped at the scene and is fully cooperating with the police. The authorities are currently investigating the incident to determine the circumstances surrounding the tragedy.
