A judge has refused to lower the bond for the suspect accused in the Independence Center mall shooting. MarkAnthony Greer faces charges of unlawful use of a weapon and armed criminal action after the shooting incident on November 10. The shooting resulted in the death of one person and left three others injured. The victim who died in the incident has been identified as Karla Brown, who was pregnant at the time. The judge denied the request to reduce Greer’s bond and his preliminary hearing is scheduled for December 18.
The shooting took place inside the Independence Center mall, where two groups got into an argument that escalated quickly. Shots were fired after the groups exchanged words and an off-duty officer arrived at the scene. Three people, including the pregnant teenager, were injured. Another person who was not involved with either group was shot in the leg. Greer himself was also shot during the altercation and is currently in custody. Two other individuals were treated and released, but the 19-year-old pregnant woman remains in critical condition.
