Farmer Punaji Dod (60) Electrocuted While Irrigating Fields in Khargone, Madhya Pradesh

A tragic incident occurred in the village of Hanumantya near Barwaha, Madhya Pradesh, where a farmer lost his life while irrigating his fields. The farmer, Punaji Dod, aged 60, was electrocuted when he accidentally came into contact with a high-tension line while using an electric water pump. The incident took place on Wednesday.

The farmer’s son, Kanha, informed authorities that his father had gone to the field to irrigate the crops. Concerned when he did not return home for a long time, Kanha went to search for him and discovered his father lying unconscious in the field. Local residents were alerted and rushed to the spot.

Despite being immediately taken to a government hospital in Barwaha, Punaji Dod could not be saved and succumbed to his injuries while being transported. The police were informed and they arrived at the hospital. Following a post-mortem examination, the body was handed over to the family.

The deceased’s family claimed that Punaji Dod had gone to the farm for sowing and irrigating activities. They believe he suffered electrocution after coming into contact with a snapped electric wire that was supporting an electric pole in the field. The presence of the dangerous snapped wire, openly lying in the field, is now being investigated.

News of the incident quickly spread, leading to a large number of villagers gathering at the government hospital to express their condolences and offer support to the grieving family.

Electrocution accidents during farming activities can be devastating and often result in tragic loss of life. It is essential for farmers and agricultural workers to prioritize safety measures and take precautions to prevent such incidents from occurring. Authorities should also ensure that infrastructure, such as electric poles and wires, are properly maintained to minimize the risk of accidents.
