Essex Town Woman Josephine Buckley Dies in I-89 Crash in Bolton

BOLTON Vt. (WCAX) – A woman from Essex Town has tragically lost her life after a two-car collision on I-89 south in Bolton on Wednesday morning.

The incident occurred at approximately 7 a.m. According to Vermont State Police, Josephine Buckley, aged 34, was traveling south when her vehicle skidded off the road due to the icy conditions. Although Buckley survived the initial crash, her car was struck by another vehicle approximately 10 minutes later. The second car slid into hers as she was attempting to exit her vehicle. Tragically, Buckley succumbed to her injuries at the scene.

The driver of the second car has been identified as Owen Benoit, aged 19, from St. Albans Town.

Authorities have confirmed that the investigation into the cause of the collision is still ongoing.
