77-Year-Old Man Beaten to Death in Bengaluru Road Rage Attack

Bengaluru: A shocking incident of road rage in the Palace Guttahalli area of Bengaluru has left a 77-year-old man dead. Krishnappa, a resident of Muneshwara Block, was brutally beaten by a motorcyclist for shouting at him due to his reckless driving. The elderly victim was on his way to a nearby medical shop to buy medication for his diabetes when the attack took place.

Initially, on November 16, the police registered the case as a road accident, assuming that Krishnappa had fallen off his scooter while on his way to the medical store the previous night. However, Krishnappa’s son, Satish Kumar, reviewed the CCTV footage from their home and discovered something alarming. The footage showed an individual arguing with his father and attacking him brutally. Based on this evidence, the Vyalikaval police reclassified the case as murder on November 17.

After analyzing CCTV footage from the area, authorities were able to identify the culprit as 35-year-old Sarfaraz Khan, a welder-cum-mechanic. Despite having shifted to the RT Nagar area, Khan frequently visited Palace Guttahalli to meet his friends.

On the night of November 15, as Krishnappa was riding his scooter to the medical shop around 8:30 pm, Khan crashed his motorcycle into Krishnappa’s vehicle. The senior citizen almost lost his balance and shouted at Khan in frustration, asking him to drive responsibly. In a fit of rage, Khan struck Krishnappa with a stone and continued to assault him relentlessly, despite the attempts of his friend, Ratan, to intervene.

Krishnappa collapsed on the road while the assailants fled the scene. A passerby immediately informed the police, and Krishnappa was rushed to a nearby hospital. Sadly, his injuries proved fatal, and he was later transferred to Mahaveer Jain Hospital, where he tragically succumbed.

Initially, the police attributed the incident to a “self-accident” and cited Krishnappa’s failure to wear a helmet. However, after reviewing the CCTV footage, a senior officer stated that swift action would be taken against Khan, including opening a criminal record against him. The incident has sparked outrage in the community, highlighting the need for stricter measures to prevent road rage incidents.
