69-Year-Old Augusto Aguilar and His 17-Year-Old Daughter Killed in Two-Vehicle Crash in Accomack County, Virginia

A tragic accident in Accomack County, Virginia has claimed the lives of a 69-year-old man and his 17-year-old daughter. The incident occurred on Tuesday, November 21, around 4:15 p.m. on Lankford Highway near Annis Lane in Nelsonia.

Virginia State Police are currently investigating the crash, which involved two vehicles. The driver of a 2021 Mazda sedan, identified as 69-year-old Augusto Aguilar from Tampa, Florida, was traveling in the northbound lane of Lankford Highway when he veered into the southbound lane and collided head-on with a Freightliner.

Sadly, Aguilar succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at Riverside Shore Memorial Hospital. His 17-year-old daughter, Allyssa, who was seated in the rear of the Mazda, tragically lost her life upon impact. Aguilar’s wife, Maria, who was in the front seat, survived the crash but was taken to TidalHealth hospital in Salisbury, Maryland, with non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the Freightliner, 63-year-old Ervin Mizriky from Henrico, sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was also transported to Riverside Shore Memorial Hospital for treatment.

At present, no charges have been filed in connection with the accident, according to Virginia State Police. The investigation into the crash is ongoing.

This devastating incident serves as a somber reminder of the importance of remaining vigilant while on the road. Authorities urge all drivers to exercise caution and adhere to traffic rules and regulations to prevent further tragedies like this from occurring.
