A man who was shot and killed by police during a standoff in New Hampshire on Monday has been identified as 42-year-old Nate Landrebe, and his death has been ruled a homicide, according to Attorney General John M. Formella. An autopsy revealed that Landrebe died from multiple gunshot wounds. The incident occurred at Landrebe’s home on West Bow St. in Franklin, New Hampshire.
The incident began when a woman living across the hall from Landrebe called the police, stating that he had attempted to break through her front door. Fortunately, the woman was unharmed. When the officers arrived, they discovered that the door had been shot at. Gunshots were also heard coming from inside Landrebe’s apartment, leading to an armed standoff. The New Hampshire State Police SWAT Unit was called to the scene.

Residents in the area were ordered to shelter in place, but the order has since been lifted. Smoke was seen coming from the apartment building, and shortly after, a fire broke out. Landrebe was later found with gunshot wounds behind the building, near a first-floor window. Despite attempts by first responders to perform CPR, Landrebe was pronounced dead at the scene.
The fire caused severe damage to the building, and its cause is currently under investigation by the New Hampshire State Fire Marshal’s Office. Officials believe that the fire was not caused by law enforcement action.
The exact circumstances surrounding the incident are still being actively investigated. Attorney General Formella assured the public that more information will be released as it becomes available. It is important to note that no law enforcement officers were physically harmed during the standoff, and there is no ongoing threat to the public.
