Intense footage has emerged from Mobile, Alabama, showing a driver evading spike strips and speeding through a gas station in Theodore. Not only did the driver race through town, but they also navigated their way through a dead-end backyard, managing to elude the Mobile Police Department (MPD). The suspect has since been identified as 35-year-old Jacob Chaudron from Theodore.

The dramatic chase unfolded as the FOX10 News crew on the scene had to quickly jump out of harm’s way. Layne Butterfield, a witness to the pursuit, had a front-row seat as the vehicle tore through his yard. Butterfield recalled the chaos, stating, “I heard the sirens from a ways away, didn’t know what the heck was going on, and once my wife called me and said something crazy was going on, I checked the cameras immediately. First thing I saw is an SUV-type vehicle with a trailer on the back of it and 11 cop cars following him into my side yard.”

Butterfield assumed that the suspect was cornered in his yard, with nearly a dozen law enforcement vehicles blocking any escape route. However, video footage revealed that the suspect executed a daring U-turn in the yard, managing to evade officers once again, trailer and all.

The driver then found an opening and made a daring escape, leaving law enforcement scrambling to follow. Butterfield expressed his surprise, saying, “I assumed they were going to stop him in my yard because there is one way in and one way out, and it is very narrow. I don’t know how they fit his vehicle and trailer plus at least another seven, eight cops back there and not capture him.”

After approximately 30 minutes of pursuit, the chase finally came to an end at a gas station located at the intersection of Three Notch and McDonald. Investigators thoroughly searched the suspect’s trunk and trailer, which were filled mainly with scrap metal.

Chaudron now faces charges including five counts of unlawful breaking and entering a vehicle, two counts of theft of property, and a felony charge for attempting to elude. The incident left residents and law enforcement in awe of the suspect’s audacious escape.
