24-Year-Old International Student Gurvinder Nath Killed in Deadly Carjacking

Peel police have apprehended and charged a juvenile in connection with a fatal carjacking incident that resulted in the death of a 24-year-old international student who was delivering food in Mississauga.

The tragic incident occurred on July 9, around 2:10 a.m., in the vicinity of Britannia and Creditview roads. According to authorities, when the victim, identified as Gurvinder Nath from Brampton, Ontario, arrived at the delivery address, he was confronted by unidentified individuals who attempted to steal his vehicle. A physical altercation ensued, leading to the victim sustaining life-threatening injuries.

Insp. Phil King of Peel Regional Police’s Homicide Bureau revealed in an update that investigators believed the food order was a ploy to lure the driver to the specific location. The suspects then fled in the victim’s vehicle, leaving him at the side of the road.

Multiple witnesses came to the aid of the injured man and called for assistance. He was rushed to a trauma center but succumbed to his injuries on July 14.

The victim’s abandoned vehicle was discovered hours later in the area of Old Creditview and Old Derry roads, less than five kilometers away from the crime scene.

On Wednesday, authorities arrested a young individual in connection with the homicide. Due to the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act, the accused cannot be identified. They are now facing a second-degree murder charge.

Gurvinder Nath, who arrived in Canada from India in July 2021, had aspirations of opening his own business, according to friends and family. His cousin, Balram Krishan, described him as innocent and mentioned that he was attacked randomly while delivering pizza.

Peel police are continuing their investigation and urging anyone with information or video footage related to the incident to contact the Homicide and Missing Persons Bureau at 905-453-2121, ext. 3205 or provide anonymous tips through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
