A 21-year-old man from Merced has been arrested in connection with two shootings, one of which resulted in the death of a teenager at a Halloween party. Darrion Wayne Murphy was apprehended without any trouble by officers from the Merced Police Department Gang Violence Suppression unit in the town of Le Grand on Tuesday. At the time of his arrest, Murphy was found to be in possession of a firearm.
The Merced police have identified Murphy as the suspect in the shooting of 17-year-old Renzo Arellano, who was attending a Halloween party on October 27th in Merced. Murphy is also believed to be responsible for a shooting at a 7-Eleven store in Merced on November 14th, where a clerk was shot in the chest.

Murphy has been taken into custody and has been charged with murder, attempted murder, and armed robbery. He has been booked into the Merced County Jail, with his bond set at $1.75 million.
During the Halloween party shooting, officers responded to reports of multiple gunshots in the area of Merced Avenue and Shirley Street. They found Arellano with multiple gunshot wounds, and sadly, he later succumbed to his injuries. The shooting at the 7-Eleven store occurred at the location on East Gerard Ave. The injured clerk was taken to a regional trauma center and managed to survive.
The Merced Police Department’s Gang Violence Suppression unit received information regarding Murphy’s whereabouts, leading to his arrest on Tuesday.
