A tragic incident occurred in Lucknow on Tuesday when a 10-year-old boy, the son of a senior police officer, lost his life after being struck by a speeding car while learning to skate with his coach. The police swiftly initiated an investigation and apprehended two college students believed to be responsible for the accident. The individuals arrested were identified as Sarthak Singh, a 20-year-old BA LLB student from a private university, and his friend Devshree Verma, a 22-year-old BTech student. The authorities also managed to recover the car involved in the fatal collision.
According to reports, the young boy was practicing skating under the guidance of his coach when a speeding SUV collided with him, resulting in his untimely demise. The accused, both college students, absconded from the scene immediately following the incident.

Further details emerged as the police identified the vehicle and traced its route using footage from a CCTV camera installed in the vicinity. Subsequently, the two students were apprehended from their respective residences. Investigators discovered that the duo had been engaged in a reckless race, driving the SUV at speeds exceeding 100 km/hr. The fatal collision occurred when Sarthak, taking the wheel, pushed the vehicle to over 120 km/hr, ultimately losing control and colliding with the young victim.
During questioning, both individuals claimed to possess learner’s licenses but failed to produce them. Moreover, they admitted that the impact of the collision was so severe that they immediately knew the boy would not survive, prompting their decision to flee the scene.
