Krishnagiri: A tragic incident occurred in the village of Veeramalai near Pochampally, as a woman and her son were charred to death in a fire that broke out at their home on Sunday night. The victims were identified as P Rajammal, 65, and her son P Murugesan, 40. Neighbours made the horrifying discovery on Monday morning when they noticed that the two had not emerged from their house. Upon investigation, it was revealed that a mosquito repellent had sparked a fire while the mother and son were sleeping.

Preliminary inquiries suggest that Murugesan had disposed of his beedi without properly extinguishing it, causing it to fall onto the leaking liquid from a mosquito repellent. They had to break open the door to enter the house, where they found Rajammal and Murugesan charred beyond recognition on the bed.
