Car Owned by Government Official Hits Four People, Two Dead

Two people have lost their lives and two others have sustained severe injuries after being hit by a car owned by a senior government official in Bihar, India. The incident occurred on Tuesday on National Highway 57 in the Phulparas area of Madhubani district. The car, belonging to the district magistrate of Madhepura, crashed into a roadside railing after hitting four individuals.

Eyewitnesses reported that the car was speeding and abruptly swerved to avoid a group of people crossing the road. The victims of the accident were identified as Gudiya Devi, 29, and her daughter Arti Kumari, 10, both local residents. Two NHAI workers from Rajasthan, Ashok Singh and Raju Singh, were also injured and rushed to a nearby hospital. They were later transferred to Darbhanga Medical College and Hospital for further treatment.

After the incident, locals staged a protest and blocked the road. However, the highway has now been reopened for traffic. The occupants of the car fled the scene, leaving the vehicle behind. It is unclear whether the Madhepura DM was present in the car. An FIR will be filed in connection with the accident and appropriate action will be taken against the responsible parties, according to Madhubani superintendent of police Sushil Kumar.

This tragic incident highlights the need for stricter traffic regulations and enforcement in Bihar. Speeding and reckless driving continue to be a major problem in the state, leading to numerous accidents and loss of lives.
