The late Capt Linda Buqa identified as victim in shooting incident

A police officer from Table View was tragically shot and killed in the Site 5 informal settlement on Sunday. The officer has been identified as Capt Linda Buqa. The motive behind the shooting is still unknown, and police are currently searching for the suspects responsible.

Condolences have been pouring in for Capt Linda Buqa, who lost his life in the shooting. The incident took place in Table View on Sunday, and the reasons behind it remain unclear. Buqa, originally from Butterworth in the Eastern Cape, leaves behind two daughters aged 25 and 20, as well as two sons aged 25 and 27. He joined the police force on September 9, 1993, and was promoted to the rank of Captain on December 1, 2018, at the Table View Police Station. Prior to that, he had worked at various police stations in Centane, Butterworth, and Cofimvaba. Buqa held a National Diploma in Police Management (1999) and Honours Baccalaureus Artium in Police Science (2001).

Table View police spokesperson, Capt Adriana Chandler, described Buqa as a quiet man with a commanding presence. Colleagues are currently planning a memorial service, while the funeral arrangements will take place in the Eastern Cape.

The shooting of Capt Linda Buqa serves as a tragic reminder of the dangers faced by police officers in the line of duty. As the investigation into his death continues, the community mourns the loss of a dedicated and respected officer.
