Multiple Deaths and Suspect on the Run in Custer County Shooting: Victim Names Yet to be Released

Three people have been killed and one person is in critical condition following a shooting in Custer County on Monday, according to reports from Gazette news partner KOAA. The incident occurred at 173 Rocky Ridge Road, just northeast of Westcliffe. Multiple agencies are currently responding to the scene.

Authorities have stated that the shooting began as a dispute between neighbors, which escalated and resulted in shots being fired. The Custer County Sheriff’s Office received the emergency call shortly before 1 p.m. It has been confirmed that two men and one woman have died as a result of the dispute, all of whom sustained multiple gunshot wounds. Another woman, who was also shot multiple times, is currently in critical condition and has been transported to the hospital for treatment.

The victims were discovered in close proximity to each other near the property line in a wooded area. The names of the deceased will be released at a later time pending notification of their families.

The suspect involved in the incident has been identified as 45-year-old Hanme K. Clark. It is reported that Clark fled the scene in a white Ram 1500 pickup truck with a topper and a Colorado license plate number BHLK27.

Authorities have disclosed that the suspect is believed to be in a different city, although they have not specified which one. Following the shooting, the Custer County Sheriff’s Office issued a shelter-in-place order for the area around Rocky Ridge Road. However, they have since given an “all-clear” notification, indicating that the immediate danger has passed.
