PHOENIX – The family of a 16-year-old girl who died from fentanyl has received some justice after the fentanyl dealer was sentenced in a federal court in Downtown Phoenix. Michael Allen Fox has been sentenced to six years in prison for distributing fentanyl and causing the death of 16-year-old Hannah Pairrett, who took fentanyl-laced pills.

Despite the court ruling, Hannah’s family feels that this is not enough to bring them closure. Hannah’s mother, Danya Pairrett Ayers, expressed her dissatisfaction, stating, “[Hannah] is never coming back, and he gets to see his family again in six years. I believe that if you give someone fentanyl, it’s poison, and it should be considered murder.”

Hannah’s sister also shared her disappointment, saying, “I’m glad he’s being held accountable, but it’s definitely not sufficient.”

During Fox’s sentencing, the Pairrett family was surrounded by other families who had lost loved ones to fentanyl. One supporter of the Pairrett family acknowledged the difficulty in achieving justice in such cases, saying, “I never got justice for my son, and I know many other parents haven’t either. So, the little punishment he received is better than nothing. It’s more than what we all got.”

Pairrett Ayers expressed her determination to fight for justice for others, saying, “After this, I want to fight even harder for other people because the sentence is unfair. I don’t want anyone else to go through what we have gone through for the past 4.5 years.”

The tragic incident serves as a reminder of the dangers of fentanyl and the devastating impact it can have on young lives. Fentanyl is a highly potent synthetic opioid that is often mixed with other drugs, making it extremely lethal. Authorities continue to crack down on fentanyl distribution, but the battle against this deadly substance remains ongoing.
