Innocent Bystander, Matthew Grant, Shot and Killed After Dudley High School Football Game

In September, a tragic incident occurred at Dudley High School in Greensboro, North Carolina. Matthew Grant, a beloved community member, was shot and killed after a football game, although he was not the intended target.

Recently, new details have emerged regarding a second suspect connected to the deadly shooting. An 18-year-old named Amari Singletary has been arrested and charged with multiple felonies, including first-degree murder. During a court appearance, it was revealed that Singletary is a gang member, and a Crimestoppers tip indicated that Grant was an innocent bystander and not the intended victim.

Singletary has been deemed a danger to the community, and his bond has been held. The charges against him include first-degree murder, discharge of a weapon into occupied property, assault with a deadly weapon, possession of a handgun by a minor, possession of a firearm on educational property, and felony and misdemeanor hit and run.

Matthew Grant was not only a respected member of the community but also a minister who had a deep love for Dudley High School. He often attended the school’s football games and would occasionally serve as a referee. Grant ministered at the New Light Missionary Baptist Church, located across the street from the school.

According to Reverend Tracy Moore, Grant’s cousin and fellow minister, he was dedicated to serving the community and would often invite young people at the games to attend the church’s youth services. Grant’s friends and family are mourning his loss during this holiday season.

The arrest of the second suspect provides some closure to the community, but the pain of losing Matthew Grant remains. As the investigation continues, the community hopes for justice to be served and for Dudley High School to heal from this tragic event.
