Grieving Wife Speaks Out After Crash Claims Husband’s Life

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) – A heartbroken wife has spoken out about the tragic death of her husband in a recent car crash near Flamingo Road and Valley View Boulevard. Katie De Los Reyes, in an interview with 8 News Now, shared her grief and preparation for the funeral of her 35-year-old husband, Andrew.

According to De Los Reyes, Andrew was on his way to work at the Aria on the Las Vegas Strip when the accident occurred on November 12. The crash took place at 3 a.m., during his graveyard shift, when a drunk driver ran a red light and collided with Andrew’s vehicle.

The other driver, identified as 49-year-old Sean Cornwall, was reportedly driving at twice the speed limit and is suspected of impairment. He now faces charges of DUI, reckless driving resulting in substantial bodily harm, possession of a dangerous drug, and failure to obey traffic laws.

De Los Reyes expressed her frustration at the preventable nature of the accident, blaming pure negligence for taking the father of her children. Andrew was declared brain dead, and the difficult decision was made to remove him from life support. His organs were later donated, saving the lives of at least three individuals.

Road Safety Advocate Erin Breen highlighted the alarming number of road fatalities in Las Vegas during a recent traffic safety event. She warned that the city is on track to surpass last year’s second-highest record of 416 fatalities, with over 325 deaths already recorded by October 31.

Andrew’s funeral will take place in his hometown of Chicago, Illinois on Tuesday. To support his grieving family, a GoFundMe campaign has been organized by James Daversa, a close family friend.
