Four Victims Identified in Custer County Shooting, Suspect Still at Large

The Custer County Coroner has released the names of the four victims involved in Monday’s tragic shooting incident. The deceased victims have been identified as Rob Geers, Beth Wade, and James Daulton. Patty Daulton, the fourth victim, is currently receiving treatment at a trauma center, according to the Custer County Sheriff’s Department.

The suspect, 45-year-old Hanme K. Clark, is still at large following the shooting, as reported by the Chaffee County Sheriff’s Department on Tuesday. Video surveillance captured Clark entering a Walmart parking lot after the incident, where he purchased numerous items before fleeing the scene in a white Ram 1500 pickup truck with a topper. The truck bears the Colorado license plate BHLK27, as confirmed by the Chaffee County Sheriff’s Office.

Residents in the affected area were instructed to shelter in place for five hours on Monday while authorities searched for the suspect. However, the order was lifted later that night. The Chaffee County Sheriff’s Office has urged residents in the southeastern part of the county to continue sheltering in place as the search for Clark continues.

Law enforcement agencies, including the CCSO, Salida Police Department, and Buena Vista Police Department, conducted an overnight search with assistance from two drones and helicopter support from the Denver Police Department. Despite their efforts, the suspect and his vehicle were not located.

Both the U.S. Marshall Service and the Colorado Bureau of Investigations have joined the search efforts. The Custer County Sheriff’s Office has obtained an arrest warrant for Clark, charging him with three counts of first-degree murder. Sheriff Rich Smith expressed his determination to arrest and prosecute Clark on all charges.

The shooting, which occurred on the property line in a wooded area, is believed to have started as a neighbor dispute, according to the Custer County Sheriff’s Office. The victims were found near each other, close to the property line. The CCSO also revealed that Clark had been involved in property disputes for several years, as he attempted to utilize the property for his business, Herbal Gardens.
