Four Injured, Gunman Dead in Shooting at Beavercreek Walmart

Beavercreek, Ohio – Four individuals have been injured and the suspected gunman is dead after a shooting occurred on Monday at a Walmart in southwestern Ohio, according to WHIO-TV. The incident took place at the Walmart on Pentagon Boulevard in Beavercreek, an eastern suburb of Dayton. The Greene County Coroner’s Office confirmed their presence at the scene.

During a late-night news conference, Beavercreek Police Capt. Scott Molnar stated that four people were injured in the shooting. However, their conditions remain undisclosed. The shooter is believed to have died from a suspected self-inflicted gunshot wound, as confirmed by Molnar. Police have indicated that the gunman was the sole suspect involved in the shooting. Further information regarding the incident is expected to be released by the police on Tuesday.

The Beavercreek Police Department posted on Facebook, affirming their presence at the scene of the shooting and ensuring that there is no active threat. The store has been cleared and secured by the police.

The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigations has received a request to assist in processing the scene, as reported by WHIO-TV. The Greene County Coroner’s Office was also present at the scene. Walmart released a statement expressing their sorrow over the incident and their collaboration with investigators.

The Beavercreek Police Department responded to the Walmart store at approximately 8:30 p.m. EST. Soin Medical Center confirmed that it received three victims from the shooting, but no information regarding their conditions has been provided.

This Walmart location has experienced tragedy in the past. In 2014, John Crawford III was shot and killed by a police officer at the same store. The incident occurred after a 911 caller reported seeing Crawford with a gun, which was later identified as a pellet gun. Crawford’s family filed a wrongful death lawsuit, resulting in a $1.7 million settlement paid by the city of Beavercreek in 2020.
