70-year-old woman and 5-year-old girl killed in car accident in Ahmedabad

Ahmedabad, India – A tragic car accident on Sunday resulted in the death of a 70-year-old woman and a 5-year-old girl, and left two others severely injured. The incident occurred on the Rajkot-Ahmedabad highway near Mithapur village in Ahmedabad’s Bavla taluka.

According to the First Information Report (FIR) filed by Dharamhi Janshalia, he and his 14-year-old granddaughter Tulsi, along with their neighbors Geeta Zamadia, 70, and her granddaughter Riya, 5, were waiting for a bus to Arnej village when they were hit by a speeding car. Geeta and Riya were pronounced dead at the hospital, while Dharamhi and Tulsi were admitted with severe injuries.

The Bagodara police have filed a complaint against an unknown person for rash driving, causing death by negligent driving, and endangering others’ lives. Charges have also been filed under the Motor Vehicles Act.

In a separate incident in Ahmedabad district, a mentally challenged woman was found dead between Tagdi and Zinzar villages in Dhandhuka. Ashik Khatumbara, a resident of Dhandhuka, reported that she had been run over, possibly by a car or truck.

Furthermore, a 45-year-old man from Kheda died on Sunday after being run over by a speeding truck while standing on the side of the road near his village of Bhaner-Vad. The victim, Mafat Talpada, was killed instantly when the vehicle’s wheel went over his head. The Kathlal police have registered a case of death by negligent driving against an unknown individual.

These recent accidents highlight the ongoing issue of road safety in India. Pedestrian deaths in traffic accidents are a major concern, often attributed to the lack of pedestrian-friendly infrastructure and speeding vehicles. Efforts have been made to improve safety for pedestrians at certain intersections, but more measures are needed to prevent further tragedies.

Authorities are investigating these incidents and hope to identify and apprehend those responsible for the accidents.
