Bengaluru: Karnataka Energy Minister KJ George has announced that a compensation of Rs 5 Lakh will be given to the family of the victim in the electrocution incident that took place in Bengaluru’s Whitefield area. The tragic incident occurred on Sunday morning near the Hope Farm junction.
The victim has been identified as Soundarya, and the incident falls under the jurisdiction of the Kadugodi police station. A case has been registered, and the police are currently investigating the matter.

Minister George took to the microblogging platform X to inform the public that an investigation has been initiated and three BESCOM workers have been suspended due to negligence. He reassured the public that strict action will be taken against those responsible for the unfortunate incident.
The father of the child was present at the scene and made an attempt to save his daughter and wife but was unable to do so.
Following this tragic incident, the Bangalore Electricity Supply Company Limited (Bescom) has taken immediate action. Five officials have been suspended for negligence, and two senior officers have been issued show-cause notices.
The incident occurred when 23-year-old Soundarya and her nine-month-old daughter, Leela, came into contact with a live 11 KV wire that had fallen on the footpath at Hope Farm Signal around 5:30 am on Sunday.
