Indian-Origin Man Piyush Patel Dies in Car Accident in Ohio

An Indian-origin man has tragically died in Ohio after being hit by a car, according to reports from IAND. The victim, identified as Piyush Patel, was walking along the substation road near Autumnwood Lane in Brunswick Hills when a southbound 2019 Volkswagen Golf GTI struck him. The incident occurred on the evening of November 18.

Upon arrival at the scene, officers from the Ohio Highway Patrol declared the 52-year-old deceased. The police are currently investigating the matter, and no arrests have been made thus far.

The driver involved in the accident has been identified as 25-year-old Cameron Luiza from Brunswick. Fortunately, Luiza was wearing safety restraints at the time of the incident, which saved him from sustaining any injuries.

In a separate incident on November 14, a crash involving multiple vehicles on an Ohio interstate resulted in the deaths of six people, with 18 others sustaining injuries. Among those involved was a charter bus carrying students.

This unfortunate event is not the first of its kind in Ohio. In June of this year, another Indian-origin man, 30-year-old Hiteshbhai Patel, lost his life in a car crash.

According to statistics from the Ohio Department of Public Safety, in 2022, there were a total of 32,752 traffic crashes in Montgomery and its surrounding counties. These accidents led to 172 fatalities, with distracted driving being blamed for 1,541 crashes and eight deaths.

Acting Administrator Ann Carlson, quoted in a local media report, stated that the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) is taking various measures to address traffic safety, including the implementation of new vehicle technologies and increased funding for state highway safety offices. The ultimate goal is to achieve zero fatalities.

As the investigation into Piyush Patel’s death continues, his family and loved ones mourn the loss of a cherished individual.
