Five People Killed in Separate Road Accidents: Masta Bahadur Oli, Pratik Buda, Manwati Lama, Shanta Maya Tamang, and Arpan Lama

KATHMANDU, NOVEMBER 20 – Tragedy struck in two different provinces of Nepal as five people lost their lives in separate road accidents. One incident took place in Rukum West, a district in the Karnali province, while the other occurred in Jhapa, a district in the Koshi province.

In Rukum West, a jeep skidded off the road and crashed in Gairijiula of Chaurjahari-8, resulting in the deaths of two individuals. The victims have been identified as Masta Bahadur Oli, aged 45, from Chaurjahari Municipality-13, and seven-year-old Pratik Buda from Sanibheri Rural Municipality-2. Alongside the fatalities, 22 others sustained injuries, including the driver. Five of the injured are in critical condition, and arrangements are being made to airlift them to Kathmandu with the assistance of the Ministry of Home Affairs. The injured are currently receiving medical treatment at the Mission Hospital in Chaurjahari. Authorities suspect that the accident was caused by the vehicle being overloaded.

Meanwhile, in Jhapa, three people lost their lives in an accident that occurred at Kolbung in Rong Rural Municipality. The victims have been identified as Manwati Lama, aged 35, and Shanta Maya Tamang, aged 60, both from Dhanushadham Municipality-9. They passed away at the B&C Hospital in Birtamod. Another victim, Arpan Lama, aged 12, died at the scene of the accident. The incident involved a bus that skidded off the road and fell approximately 300 meters. The driver and at least 33 others were injured and are currently being treated at the B&C Hospital. Two of the injured individuals are in critical condition.

Investigations are underway in both cases to determine the exact causes of the accidents. These tragic incidents serve as a reminder of the need for road safety measures and the importance of adhering to traffic regulations to prevent loss of life on Nepal’s roads.
