Alarming Spike in Dengue Cases in Assam’s Cachar District Raises Concern
Silchar, Assam – The number of dengue cases in Assam’s Cachar district has seen a sharp increase, causing serious concern among health officials. One person has already died from the disease, while over 25 others are currently undergoing treatment at the Silchar Medical College and Hospital (SMCH). An additional 10 individuals have been admitted to various private hospitals for treatment.

The deceased has been identified as Dilip Kumar Nath. Dengue is a mosquito-borne viral infection that causes high fever, along with symptoms such as headache, nausea, muscle or joint pain, and vomiting. In severe cases, if not treated promptly, dengue can lead to a drastic decrease in blood platelets, which can be life-threatening.
Health authorities in the region are working diligently to control the spread of the disease. Efforts are being made to raise awareness about preventive measures, such as eliminating mosquito breeding sites and using mosquito nets and repellents. Local authorities have also intensified efforts to fumigate affected areas to reduce the mosquito population.
The rise in dengue cases has prompted the government to take immediate action.
