65-Year-Old Abdur Rab Killed in Minibus Accident on Dhaka-Chattogram Highway

One person was killed and at least 20 others were injured when a minibus lost control and fell into a ditch in the Gajaria area of Munshiganj on the Dhaka-Chattogram highway today. The accident occurred around 8:30 am on Monday, November 20.

The victim, identified as Abdur Rab, 65, was a pedestrian who died on the spot when the bus lost control and hit him, according to Ghazaria Highway Police in-charge Md Humayun Kabir. Rescue work was quickly initiated with the help of the fire service and police.

Eyewitnesses and police reported that the minibus was traveling from Cumilla to Dhaka. In the Baluakandi area, the bus lost control, hit the pedestrian, and fell into the ditch on the side of the road. The pedestrian died instantly, while the injured were rescued and sent to Gajaria Health Complex for treatment.

The accident caused a temporary disruption in traffic on the Dhaka-Chattogram highway as authorities worked to clear the scene and investigate the cause of the accident. The minibus was later towed away.

Road accidents are a common occurrence in Bangladesh, with poor road conditions, reckless driving, and lack of enforcement of traffic rules contributing to the high number of incidents. The government has been working on improving road safety measures and implementing stricter traffic regulations to reduce the number of accidents.
