JMU Student Found Dead in Dorm Room
In a tragic incident that occurred on the 9th of November at James Madison University (JMU) in Harrisonburg, Virginia, a 19-year-old student was found dead in his dorm room. The deceased has been identified as Bernard Stapelfeld, a freshman at JMU from Pennsylvania.

Bernard, who had moved to the United States in 2022 to pursue a degree in Computer Sciences, was described by those who knew him as a loving and kind individual. He had a passion for Marvel movies, Star Wars, and was an active presence on YouTube, where he shared videos of himself playing Shooter Games and discussing The Walking Dead. Bernard was well-liked by his friends and family and was known for his intelligence.
The cause of Bernard’s death has not yet been confirmed by the Virginia State Police Department. However, they have stated that there were no signs of foul play or violence involved in the matter. The police are currently conducting a toxicology report and autopsy to determine the exact cause of death. The results of these reports are expected to take a few weeks.
