The suspect fired shots at the bailiff and locksmith, who were both able to retreat to safety, confirmed Capt. Donna Holden. She stated that officers on the scene responded by using their service weapons to return fire towards the home. Despite being trapped on the porch, one officer managed to escape from the gunfire.

The 52-year-old suspect, identified as Chad McGraw, was later found inside the home by EDGE SWAT with a gunshot wound to his head. A loaded handgun was also recovered by the police. However, it remains unclear whether the gunshot wound was self-inflicted or if it was caused by an officer’s service weapon.

McGraw was immediately transported to University Hospitals by EMS but succumbed to his injuries. Two officers suffered minor injuries during the incident but have since been treated and released from local hospitals, according to Holden.

The investigation into the incident is ongoing, as confirmed by the Euclid Police Department. Updates on the case can be expected in the future.
