Artez Moore of Bainbridge Identified as Victim in Suspicious Death near Carr Lake

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – The Leon County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a suspicious death after the body of a man was discovered near Carr Lake on Thursday morning. The victim has been identified as 22-year-old Artez Moore from Bainbridge, according to a family member who spoke exclusively with WCTV.

Authorities were alerted to the incident at around 9:30 a.m. on Thursday and immediately dispatched crews from the county’s tactical dive team, the fire department, and airboats to the scene. Crime scene tape was put up to block off a ramp leading to Carr Lake where Moore’s body was found.

Moore, who was visiting Tallahassee at the time of his death, was described by his cousin, D’Marco Murphy, as a young man who had a promising future ahead of him. Murphy urged anyone with information about the incident to come forward and help the family find closure.

“It hasn’t sunk in yet because this wasn’t supposed to happen to him. Please just come forth. Help us grieve better. We need that, so we wouldn’t be wondering in our minds what happened and how this happened when there’s somebody out there that knows what happened to him,” said Murphy.
